Mission Creek Preserve

Open to the public and admission is free.

For people who enjoy nature, this 4,760-acre preserve is perfect for hiking and camping in a quiet and relaxing natural environment. Visitors can observe beautiful scenery and many species of flora and fauna that are native to the desert habitat. In the center of the Preserve is a lush wetland framed by picturesque hills and Mount San Gorgonio looming in the background. The Preserve hosts deer, bear, big horn sheep and mountain lions, and has spectacular displays of spring wildflowers in wet years. The trail system leads onto the Pacific Crest Trail, which is two miles from the Stone House Group Campground.

For visitors who enjoy more urban or cosmopolitan activities, we recommend visiting downtown Palm Springs. Only about a 15 minute drive away, this area is perfect for walking around and site-seeing a variety of shops, restaurants, and activities.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

Ascend two-and-one-half miles to a pristine wilderness aboard the world’s largest rotating tramcar. The panoramic views of the surrounding valley are absolutely beautiful. The tram ride lasts around ten minutes in each direction. At the tram destination, there is a visitors lodge with two restaurants, a cocktail lounge, observation decks, a small natural history museum, two theaters showing State Park and Tram movies, a gift shop, access to over 50 miles of hiking trails and more. Regular adult tickets cost $29.
